Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes is an ardent sports fan. The award-winning entrepreneur was keen to transfer that passion into his business, becoming an official sponsor of the Newcastle Falcons. The event-marketing specialists have revealed the similarities between success in business and sport.

Complete One has been an official sponsor of Aviva Premiership side, Newcastle Falcons since 2016. The firm sponsor scrum-half, Sonatane Takulua, a Tongan international. Mr Lowes was delighted to transfer his love for sports into his business.  The business owner contends that there are many similarities between success in business and sport. The serial entrepreneur regularly looks for individuals from a sporting background when acquiring new talent and he has revealed the attributes that lead to success in both fields.

Competitive spirit

Athletes possess a competitive spirit which drives them to succeed and want to be the best. Mr Lowes argues that a competitive spirit is also vital in business. “Competition brings out the best in people and forces them to level up. Without competition, people can become complacent,” commented Mr Lowes.

To become a professional athlete, it takes years of dedication. They give their all during every training session so they can perform to the best of their abilities when it comes time to compete. Mr Lowes argues that dedication is vital to business success. “Success in business isn’t an overnight thing; it is a long and bumpy journey. If people are going to succeed they need to give it their all every day,” stated Mr Lowes.

Winning Mentality

A winning mentality allows people to achieve results in the face of adversity and during off days. Complete One director, Mr Lowes contends that a winning mentality is crucial in business, stating, “You have to be able to find a way to win, no matter the circumstances.”

Team Work

Leicester City’s shock win in the 2015/2016 premier league season was the culmination of teamwork. The team was rated at 5000/1 to win at the start of the season; however, they all worked together to defy the odds and clinch the title. There is a famous mantra that, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” Mr Lowes argues that success is rarely a solo effort and that when people come together to work towards a common goal, great things can be achieved.

Complete One is the North East’s premier event-marketing firm. In a world of ever advancing technologies, they offer clients something that is often lacking in today’s digital world, the personal touch. The firm is proud and excited to be a sponsor of the Newcastle Falcons. As they look to expand to meet Q4 goals, they are hoping to attract individuals from a sporting background.
